So, as I’d thought, drawing clothes is still really difficult.
The difficulty of drawing clothes
Drafting, colouring, shading, and highlighting are one thing. They ARE all important to the end product: if you know where you’re supposed to be putting them, which is the real issue. Clothing folds are still extremely difficult to plan out for me, and I need to find a method of planning them out before drawing before I move onto the next step. I think the first few steps are easy, but it’s the folds that cause issues.
- Outline
- Colour
- Shade (Using a hard full opacity brush)
- Go from there, using softer brushes, soft erasers, and watercolour brushes.
Shading with watercolour
I have tried out watercolour and…it’s great! …in certain conditions. Shading certain folds with it does produce some nice results, but with others, not so much. I do end up having to switch brushes a lot but that’s fine.
Next up
Just continuing to trial-and-error my way through drawing clothes until I find a decent method.
By the way, I’ll be working the entire day tomorrow, so I probably won’t have the time/energy/all of the above to post anything so I’d like to apologize in advance.
Anywho! Thanks for reading and I’ll see you tomorrow (If I can)!
